It’s Kerry v Monaghan In Listowel at 12 On Sunday.

Previewing Kerry v Monaghan games come with a strict health warning. Which Monaghan team will turn up? Will it be the team that Kerry hammered by 11 points in last years league encounter or will it be the Monaghan team that humbled Kerry by 16 points in the All Ireland quarter final in August> The answer probably lies somewhere in between.

For that matter what can we expect from Kerry ? Hopefully something akin to last Sunday’s second half performance against Donegal in which Kerry took the game by the scruff of the neck and dug deep to record a deserved win. That win gained Kerry 3 valuable league points and drew them level in the league table with 4 other teams including Monaghan.

Monaghan lost to Galway by 6 points last Sunday so will be iching to get three more league points on the board when they take on the Kerry girls. With players of the calibre of Ciara McAnespie, Cora Courtney, Caoimhe Mohan and Ellen McCarron to call upon they will be difficult to beat. Kerry are improving though and will be determined to halt the Monaghan gallop.

It is probable that Emma Sherwood and Elaine O’Sullivan (goalkeeper) will be available for the Kingdom having missed the Donegal game, with Sherwood likely to go back into the centre half back position and O’Sullivan into goals.

The form of Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh , Anna Galvin, Lorraine Scanlon and Amanda Brosnan has been excellent in the league so far and manager Graham Shine will be hoping the Caroline Kelly, Aislinn Desmond , Sarah Houlihan, Denise Hallissey, Eilis Lynch and Laura Rogers will continue to show the improvement shown in the last game.

While it is a very difficult match to call, home venue could swing it once again for Kerry in Listowel on Sunday at 12 noon.
