National Football League Div 1 Fixtures 2016 .

LGFA-Logo-430x266The National Football League Division 1 fixtures for 2016 have been revealed, and they hold some interesting and tough ties for the Kerry Ladies.

First up is an away tie to All Ireland finalists Dublin on January 31st.  There are ongoing discussions that this game may be played as part of a double header with the Kerry v Dublin men in Croke Park but there will not be confirmation on this until later in the week.

Next up for the Kerry ladies will be a home tie versus Cork on Febuary 7th.  Cork will be under new management , with Eamon Ryan having left to join their male counterparts , while Kerry will be anxious to make up for their All Ireland semi final defeat to the Rebelettes.

There will be no romance in the air when Kerry face a difficult away tie to Armagh on February 14th. Armagh won the National League Div 2 title in 2015 and also reached the All Ireland senior semi final. They have a new manager in former Armagh great Ronan Clarke, and he is sure to have them in excellent shape.

A home tie versus Galway is next up on February 28th. The Tribeswomen have oodles of young talent coming through, and will be a formidable test. They defeated Kerry by 6 points in the corresponding fixture last season.

There’s another home tie for Kerry on March 6th when they will entertain Mayo. The Mayo ladies are going through a transitional period at the moment but any team with Cora Staunton on board cannot be taken lightly.

Kerry are on the road again when they will make the long journey to Monaghan on the 3rd of April.  Monaghan are a team with lots of experience in their ranks, and could be a dark horse for both league and championship in 2016.

Tyrone will make the journey south for Kerry’s final league game on 10th April.  Tyrone are another top division 1 side and will provide a stern test for the Kingdom ladies.

Kerry will be hoping to do enough to make the National football league Div 1 semi finals for the second year in a row. There are some top class game’s taking place in the Kingdom so please make sure you come along and support the Kerry girls.

We will have team news, venues,  etc, closer to the first game against Dublin.
