Kerry face a potential banana skin when they travel to play Waterford in Round 1 of the TG4 Munster senior championship in Fraher field Dungarvan next Saturday with a 2pm throw in.
Waterford operated in Division 2 of the National League this year and didn’t enjoy a great campaign as they finished second from bottom on 7 points having secured just 2 wins and a draw in their 7 games. Kerry operated from Division and had 3 wins from 7 but were close to 3 further victories having lost narrowly to Mayo , Galway and Dublin.
The championship is a different story however and Kerry struggled for long periods against Waterford in last years Munster championship game in Brosna. Indeed it took a 1-6 haul from Kerry’s livewire Sarah Houlihan to propel the Kingdom to a 1-14 to 1-7 victory over a resilient Waterford challenge. Kerry will face a similar challenge on Saturday and Fraher Field will certainly be worth a few points to the home side.
Neither team has been named yet and we will have further news over the next couple of days.
