It was with great sadness that Southern Gaels LGFA learned of the untimely death of Marion O’ Dwyer. Marion was a force in ladies football and was to the forefront in setting up ladies football in South Kerry in the early 1980’s. Her passion and commitment both on and off the field paved the way for ladies football in South Kerry. She was instrumental in under age football, in particular Cumann na mBunscol in St. Finian’s National School, Waterville and ladies U12 and U14 teams in Waterville GAA, bringing her love of the game to her charges . Her daughter’s Ashling and Sinead followed in her footsteps playing with Southern Gaels.
All in the Southern Gaels community would like to express our deepest condolences to her husband Dan, children Ashling, Sinead, Alan, Stephen , grandson Jayden , brothers Mossie, John, Patrick and Brendie and aunt Sheila. To her wider circle of family and friends we offer our heartfelt sympathies.
