STARS from the competing counties gathered at Croke Park today (Tuesday May 28) to officially launch the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships.

All roads lead to Croker on Sunday August 4, when the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Junior, Intermediate and Senior champions will be crowned.

Before that, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Thursday, July 18, with special celebrations planned in Thurles, the birthplace of the Association to mark the occasion.

To mark the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Championships launch, and with Croke Park the big target for each of the competing counties, TG4’s Peil na mBan Beo lead anchor Máire Ní Bhraonáin was joined on the streets surrounding the famous Dublin stadium recently by Clodagh McCambridge (Armagh), Ailbhe Davoren (Galway), Aishling O’Connell (Kerry) and Carla Rowe (Dublin), representing the four recently-crowned TG4 provincial senior champions.

Intermediate representatives Niamh Feeney (Roscommon) and Aoibhinn McHugh (Tyrone) were also present, alongside Junior players Róisín Ambrose (Limerick) and Ruth Bermingham (Carlow), to help launch the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Championships.

The 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Championship season gets underway next Sunday, June 2, with eight group games across the Intermediate and Junior grades.

The Senior Championship will commence on Saturday June 8 when Armagh host Meath at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, followed by three more Senior championship ties on Sunday June 9.

The groupings for the All-Ireland Senior and Intermediate Championships were populated as the provincial campaigns progressed.

At Senior level, defending champions Dublin, aiming for back-to-back titles, are in Group 4 alongside Mayo and Kildare.

Group 1 features Ulster champions Armagh, Meath and Tipperary, with Munster champions Kerry, who were TG4 All-Ireland Senior finalists in 2022 and 2023, in Group 2 alongside Donegal and Waterford.

Group 3 contains Galway, the Connacht champions, who will play Cork and Laois.

In the Intermediate Championship, last year’s finalists Clare will be hoping to go one better this time and they’re in Group 2 with Monaghan and Offaly.

Group 1 contains Ulster champions Down, Westmeath and Cavan, with Wexford, the Leinster champions, in Group 3 with Roscommon and Antrim.

Group 4, meanwhile, contains Connacht champions Leitrim, Wicklow and Tyrone.

The Junior Championship, meanwhile, will be contested by nine counties, with London, Sligo, Fermanagh, Derry and Carlow in Group A, and Kilkenny, Louth, Limerick and Longford in Group B.

In the Senior and Intermediate Championships, two teams will emerge from each group to contest the quarter-finals, with the top two teams in each of the Junior groups progressing to the semi-finals.

Last week, the LGFA and TG4 also confirmed live linear TV coverage of 15 fixtures, while all Senior Championship ties not shown live on TV will be live-streamed via the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel, in an historic development.

The LGFA and TG4 also confirmed that the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-finals will be played as a double-header at Glenisk O’Connor Park in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, on Saturday July 20 (5.15pm and 7.30pm).

The 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Finals will be staged as a triple-header once again at Croke Park on Sunday August 4, with the Junior Final at 11.45am, followed by the Intermediate decider at 1.45pm and the Senior Final at 4.15pm.

Peil na mBan Beo will be available to audiences globally on the TG4 Player at https://www.tg4.ie/en/player/watch-live/home/ and on the TG4 Mobile and Smart TV App.

Former Galway star Máire Ní Bhraonáin will lead TG4’s Peil na mBan Beo coverage once again for the forthcoming Championship season. The commentary team will be headed up by Brian Tyers.

They will be joined by expert panellists including former Cork TG4 All-Ireland Championship winners Rena Buckley and Rhóna Ní Bhuachalla, ex-Waterford ace Michelle Ryan, Dublin All-Ireland winner Sorcha Furlong, Donegal’s Emer Gallagher and Róisín Rodgers, and more.

TG4 have been title sponsors of the All-Ireland Ladies Football Championships since 2001 and the partnership has evolved into one of the most recognised and innovative in world sport.

In 2022, TG4 announced a five-year extension of their sponsorship of the All-Ireland Ladies Football inter-county championships, with this deal set to last until the conclusion of the 2027 season.

2024 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championship Fixtures confirmed

• Bumper schedule of live fixtures on TG4 also announced

 THE fixtures for the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships have been confirmed.

The TG4 All-Ireland Championships will commence on Sunday June 2 with eight fixtures across the Intermediate and Junior grades – and conclude at Croke Park on Sunday August 4 with a triple-header of Finals (Junior, Intermediate and Senior).

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association and Championship sponsors TG4 are also pleased to announce that, in total, 15 live TV fixtures have been agreed upon.

Additionally, and in an historic development, all Senior Championship games not shown live on linear TV will be live-streamed via the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@SportTG4

There will be two live TV TG4 games from each round of the Senior Championship during the group phase, along with all four Senior Championship quarter-finals, both Senior Championship semi-finals, and the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Finals.

The live TV action commences on Sunday June 9 with a double-header of fixtures featuring Donegal, Kerry, Dublin and Mayo.

The first live TV game on the day is the meeting of Donegal and visitors Kerry (TG4 All-Ireland Senior finalists in 2022 and 2023), from Ballybofey (1.05pm) followed by the clash between Dublin, the TG4 Leinster and All-Ireland Senior Champions, and Mayo at Parnell Park (2.50pm).

On Saturday, June 15, the clash between Cork and Galway (1pm) will be shown live on TV, along with either Kerry v Waterford (3pm) or Tipperary v Armagh (5.30pm), depending on scheduling.

In Round 3, on Sunday June 23, the live TV picks are Waterford v Donegal (1.30pm) and Meath v Tipperary (3.30pm).

The reward for the group winners in the Senior and Intermediate championships is a home quarter-final, with the last-eight ties to be confirmed by a draw. The Senior Championship quarter-final draw will be shown live on TG4 following the Meath v Tipperary game on June 23.

The Intermediate Championship quarter-finals are scheduled for Sunday June 30, with the Senior quarter-finals fixed for the weekend of Saturday/Sunday July 6/7.

The Intermediate Championship semi-finals will take place on Sunday July 14, with the Senior Championship semi-finals set to be played as a double-header at Glenisk O’Connor Park in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, on Saturday July 20 (5.15pm and 7.30pm).

Following the conclusion of the group phase, four teams (two from each group) will advance to contest the Junior Championship semi-finals, which are fixed for Sunday July 14.

Munster LGFA Senior Championship Final

Kerry 2-15 -v- Cork 0-13

Sheer delight for Kerry as they were crowned TG4 Munster Senior A ladies football champions for the first time since 2017 at Mallow.

The Kingdom started well, before falling behind to Cork, but a goal from Emma Dineen just before half-time got them back in contention.

When she raised her second green flag with nine minutes to go it was the killer blow, as they led by six points at that stage and there was no way back for Cork.

Add in a simply outstanding display from Danielle O’Leary, who scored 10 points for Kerry and was the deserving winner of the Player of the Game award, closely followed by Kayleigh Cronin.

O’Leary opened the scoring for Kerry in the fourth minute as she fisted over the bar from a long ball in. She doubled their lead after 10 minutes, with a long stoppage for an injury in between to players from both sides. The same player made it 0-3 to no score as Cork were finding it difficult to get going, thanks to some superb defending by Kerry.

Katie Quirke got Cork off the mark after 14 minutes and from the restart Rachel Leahy got their second point to make it 0-3 to 0-2. With 16 minutes gone Cork were back on level terms when Melissa Duggan did what she does best. She burst forward to score as Cork were now much more in contention.

Quirke got her second from a free to put Cork in front for the first time after 19 minutes play.

Another bursting run from a Cork player, this time Laura O’Mahony, put Cork two to the good as they were now playing the better football.

Quirke pointed from another free, with Aoife Healy and O’Mahony also scoring to make it 0-8 to 0-3 after 28 minutes. Quirke then got Cork’s ninth point in a row as the Rebels were enjoying the better of the play.

O’Leary and Quirke exchanged points from frees as Cork led by six as half time approached. Just before the half time whistle Kerry got the boost they needed when a ball in from Katie Brosnan was fisted to the back of the net by Emma Dineen, to see Cork lead by 0-10 to 1-4 at the break. O’Leary, Kerry’s only point scorer in the first half, added another 30 seconds into the second, with Lydia McDonagh replying for Cork.

O’Leary, who was keeping her side in contention on her own hit another to put a point between the sides. And with 40 minutes gone O’Leary scored again to level it.

Another from O’Leary put Kerry back in front after 41 minutes the first time they lead since the 16th.

Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh, who came on after 39 minutes, scored a point, the first Kerry player aside from O’Leary to raise a white flag for them.

O’Leary got her ninth to increase Kerry’s lead, with Niamh Carmody also pointing, to make it 1-11 to 0-11 in their favour after 49 minutes.

Kerry had one hand on the trophy after 51 minutes when Dineen got her, and Kerry’s, second goal to make it 2-11 to 0-11. Quirke hit back for Cork but time wasn’t on their side as  Ní Mhuircheartaigh and Carmody increased Kerry’s lead. Ní Mhuircheartaigh got the last score of the game as the Kingdom won the title for the first time since 2017.

The U17 National Festival Day will take place on Tuesday 9th July across three venues in Dublin; National Games Development Centre, TUD Blanchardstown and Sport Ireland GAA Pitch in Sports Campus.

The U17 Player Development Programme (PDP) focuses on developing young players in the vulnerable U17 age group. Here are some key features:

Coaching Sessions: High-quality coaching sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of both players and coaches 

Playing Opportunities: Players participate at county, provincial, and national levels.

Skill Development: Emphasis on technical skills, game understanding, and fitness.
