We got the following very important circular from head office this evening. They also attached this well written letter with it – please take the time to read both :
In light of recent retrospective allegations in both Britain and Ireland relating to the sports sector, we are reminding our membership of child welfare practices and procedures. The attached circular has been sent to all County Secretaries and County Childrens’ Officers in Ireland and Britain and we request that it be forwarded all Clubs in respective Counties. Vigilance at all times and a commitment to implementing our child welfare practices is central to the welfare of children in the LGFA. We need to ensure that our membership and their families are aware that our Code of Best Practice in Youth Sport has been designed so as to provide children in the LGFA with the best possible care while they participate in our games and activities. We also have a responsibility to ensure if ever we have concerns or knowledge of possible child abuse that we act upon those concerns as a matter of urgency and that we liaise with our own Designated Liaison Persons and our statutory partners on all such matters.
