Newly formed Kerry ladies club Castlegregory received a welcome boost in the build up to Saturday's Div 4 County League Final against Duagh with the news that Ned Natterjack's are the new sponsors of the senior ladies team. Proprietor of Ned Natterjacks, John Quirke, was on hand on Tuesday evening to present the girls with a brand new set of jerseys as preparations continue for Saturday evening's big clash. The Castlegregory Ladies club was only formed back in January and in that time they have made huge strides both on and off the field. Trainers Pierce Ferriter and Enda Whelan and manager, former inter county star Annette Falherty, have been working hard with the current panel of players and they will no doubt be delighted with their progress to date. The club's committee led by Breda Quirke (Chairperson), Karen Fitzgerald (Vice Chair), Claire Goodwin (Sec), Deirdre Finn (Treasurer), Hazel Manning (Registrar), Marie Finn (PRO) have also made great strides. They will face tough opponents however on Saturday as Duagh proved in their comprehensive semi-final victory ove Kilcummin. The young and talented Duagh side will no doubt start the final as favourites but it promises to be an exciting and tense affair. Laune Rangers captured the inaugural ladies County League Division One title in Kilcummin on Bank Holiday Monday. We congratulate everyone involved with the Laune Rangers team and our commiserations go to Castleisland Desmonds who kept on fighting until the end of the game. All four finals for the County League are now known after the weekend's action. In Division 3 Firies emerged from Connolly Park with a 2-9 to 1-5 victory over Austin Stacks. Led by the brilliance of Emma Sherwood and Maura O'Connor Firies will now play Rathmore in next Saturday evening's final. In Division 4 Duagh will meet Castlegregory in the final after a 4-11 to 1-6 home win over Kilcummin in the semi-final. Duagh and Castlegregory also meet in the final next Saturday evening. Just a reminder also that the Division One final takes place tomorrow in Kilcummin. Castlisland Desmonds meet Laune Rangers at 1 pm in Kilcummin in the flag ship final of the League.
